last magpie makes his electric minds debut with the *influences* ep in april. the eps three original tracks combine the producers knack for punchy uk club tracks with elements of the pioneering electronic music that have informed his music tastes. inspirations from classic hardcore, jungle and garage loom large on ep opener *mirdad*, while *pledge* takes things on an electro tip with nods to the sounds leading mid-2000s exponents. *i love me* juxtaposes light and moody elements for a heavier take on disco and chicago house, while the ep is completed by a sublime trevino remix, as the soulr boss reshapes *pledge* into the kind of tough, hypnotic house he has made his forte.

butane teams up with andras toth for the *elements of truth* ep, set to be released via butanes very own alphahouse imprint. andrew rasse aka butane, launched the alphahouse imprint back in 2005 amidst the minimal explosion, working with the likes of troy pierce and quenum in the early stages. now, looking back on how things have progressed and seeing the imprint reach a thirty-release milestone here, the label has made quite the standing in its time, releasing cuts from luminaries such as skudge, ricardo villalobos and ion ludwig to name a few. here we see andras toth return to the label with the duos second collaborative ep following *futures* back in 2011.

talk about saving the best until last. if you thought that the first two parts of awanto 3s opel mantra trilogy were good, just wait until you hear part 3. it delivers a brilliantly breathless conclusion to what could well be one of the strongest debut albums of 2014. by now, you should know the script. amsterdam producer steven van hulle has previously shown glimpses of his musical talents, either with sporadic solo productions (see his superb 2010 debut on rush hour, for five), or alongside friends from the dutch scene (san proper, young marco and tom trago, in particular). opel mantra, a debut album split across three 12 inch singles (a cd version will follow later in the year), is his big reveal – our first chance to wallow in his unique and thrilling fusions of deep house, detroit techno and a multitude of vivid global influences.

with sincopat 21 we start a new chapter in the label, we ask the illustrator philip cassirer to create a really special artwork for the next 10 eps, is a mosaic made up with ten pieces starting in the 21th release and ending with the 30th, we call it sincopat island and just 300 limited vinyl copies will me made for every single release, so you will just be able to build the puzzle getting our next 10 releases.

ever since digitalism played boiler room at 2013s !melt festival the internet has been asking what this track might be. there have even been bootlegs made from the audio, but the version we release on vinyl was the one that lit up dancefloors from i love techno in belgium to genban in tokyo, output in new york and razzmatazz in barcelona.

its now almost two years since german producer sawlin made his debut on ann aimee, but now he is back for a third ep on the delsin sister label. entitled niedertracht, it features four more tracks of searing techno in truly uncompromising sawlin style.

kiwanuka, a 25 year-old uk native of ugandan heritage, was raised in north london where he split his time between session work and local gigs. along the way, having found footing as a solo artist, he was signed to communion records, then polydor, and has since performed throughout europe and north america too touring in direct support of adele. he made his way through nashville this past summer with just enough pause and aplomb to commit these morsels to tape. the a-side *you ve got nothing to lose* is an original composition, featuring the buzzards dominic davis on upright bass and cory younts on piano, joined also by fellow balladeer lillie mae rische on fiddle. their contributions transform his work into a stone-cold groove with almost orchestral underpinnings, making it a fitting extension of their previous blue series. the single also features a chilling rendition of townes van zandts infamous *waitin round to die* on the b-side, the perfect compliment to the timbre and mood of the a-side.

limited double a side reissue of two classic disco bombs by 70s keyboardist don ray. with production duties undertaken by french electro-disco legend cerrone, both tracks are proper dancefloor weapons laden with heavy synths, bouncing b-lines and awesome punchy horns. first up is the amazing groove armada-sampled disco stomper standing in the rain, featuring powerful vocals over a searing groove that made it massive at the time. flip over for got to have loving, an exhilarating disco burner with hot sexy female vocals and a great breakdown later reworked by the revenge. superb double-header of must-have tracks - dont sleep!

this is the first full-ep from denmarks erosion flow aka henrik koefed having made his first appearance on wax at the end of 2013 with his his spaced-out edit of nexts too close. this record, manmakemusics first release of 2014, pitches the breadth of koefods sound-running swinging, gritty house against grime-infused 4/4 and off beat electronica. this ep shows the damage that erosion flow can do!

richard burkinshaw & james rial aka audiojacks standing in electronic music speaks for itself, the pair have been heavily involved since around 2006 and have made quite the impact with releases for 2020 vision, leftroom, get physical and of course their own gruuv label where they return to here.

although delivering a mysterious & scantily clad 12 inch is hardly a novel concept these days, we must confess to being more than a little excited when we heard this one! it is undercover time again, and we’re sworn to secrecy, of course… what we do know, however is that this mighty release is an absolute dancefloor sureshot! made up of two long, pitched down and utterly mesmerising workouts kicking off with itaque putant, a mid-tempo, tripped out disco number that marries elements of techno, late 80s balearia and more than a nod towards classic red zone dubs. super low subs and bags of melodic atmosphere conspire to provide a perfect dancing under the stars moment. on the flip timento is a lysergic, tribalistic epic, stitching together a series of ethnic ingredients and overlaying some seriously transcendent modern synth candy. building into the soundtrack for a full blown shamanic vision! a serious platter then, and when the music is this good, who needs more?

in the not so distant past, a certain chicago house sound found its way to clubs worldwide. a jacking house sound made up of anything producers could get there hands on. if you had a cool alarm sound, you could throw it under a 909 and watch dancers freak out. dj rafaels new ep for on the prowl is a nod to that era. while hes not using an alarm as his tool, youll notice the in your face style in which its based upon. some of you might know rafael from his earlier miracles club releases for cutters and mexican summer. this time around rafael fauria joins friend brian foote for some on the edge jack tracks which are both packed with acid and foot stomping percussion.

we’re really excited about this unusual ep from the unusually talented photomachine, his first outing on wicked bass. ‘black motorcycle’ a dark but deep number, measuredly working its way down into to a solid groove before it lifts its eyes skyward for a breakdown made up of delicate synthwork. ‘good news…bad dope’ is a more skittish cut, with its percussive elements laying low in the mix, whilst circling synths provide a menacing mood that juxtaposes itself with a well-placed vocal sample.

luca lozano, owner of klasse recordings presents this majestic 4-track ep on optimo trax. inspired by the past but sounding the antithesis of retro. in his own words.... the optimo trax ep was born out of a time when i was listening to a lot of old bleep house and rave, early 90s uk stuff. growing up in sheffield i was lucky enough to spend some time in warp records when it was still a record store and being around this music and the people that made it must have somehow embedded itself into my psyche. listening to pirate radio stations like fantasy fm as a teenager helped shape my musical interests as they are today and i guess this ep is somehow a reflection of that education, i wanted to make a collection of music that sounded like it was related to a certain place and time and in effect confirm my own identity within its context.
